The private rooftop onsen at Mimatsukan was absolutely stunning with breathtaking views. The staff, though limited in English, were down-to-earth and went out of their way to assist us. We were even given a ride to the bus stop upon checkout. The room was clean and comfortable, and the location near the Ikaho Stone Steps was ideal. I highly recommend this hotel for an authentic and memorable stay.

I had an amazing stay at this hotel in the mountains. the prices were incredibly affordable for the value we received. For just ¥22,000, we enjoyed a delicious dinner and a mouthwatering breakfast that left us satisfied. Secondly, the staff were extremely friendly and made us feel welcomed throughout our stay. They even went the extra mile by leaving the heater on in our room before we arrived, which was a thoughtful gesture. Lastly, the location of this hotel was perfect as it was situated in the hot spring area, allowing us to easily explore and experience the local culture.
No complaints, everything was perfect!

Nestled in the mountainous area, this hotel boasts stunning views and easily accessible by bus from Shinjuku. the friendly staff provides excellent service, including yakatas, a Japanese garment, and helpful tips for exploring the nearby Ikaho Stone Steps and Shrine on foot. This hotel also offers traditional Tatami-style rooms, a general public bath, and a rooftop onsen for an Instagram-worthy experience.
Some parts of the hotel may be in need of renovation and lack showering facilities in the outdoor onsen area.

I recently had a truly wonderful stay at this hotel in a hot spring area. the staff went above and beyond to make our experience enjoyable, even with limited English. Secondly, the traditional atmosphere created a homely vibe that made me feel truly immersed in Japanese culture. Lastly, the open-air onsen with its stunning views provided the perfect way to relax and unwind after a day of exploring.
I couldn't find anything negative about this hotel.

Spent New Year in a traditional Japanese hotel. Gorgeous views in the onsen and the food was delicious. The hotel staff did their best to be friendly, even if we struggled with the language barrier. The location was ideal, close to the express bus from Shinjuku.
The room was dirty, with stains on the bedding and the carpet. There was no hot water in the bathroom and the heating was inadequate.

Wow! Such a wonderful hotel to stay during my city trip. I loved the fact that the hotel offered an outdoor bath and an indoor bath, which was great to experience the traditional Japanese onsen. the view from the outdoor bath was breathtaking, an unforgettable experience. Another thing that I really enjoyed about the hotel was the friendly staff and their exceptional service. the hotel was located very close to the bus stop, making it easy to commute.
There was one thing that I did not enjoy very much, and it was the temperature of the indoor bath. It was too hot for me, but maybe perfect for Japanese people who can endure hot water.
